Report

This week we had our final league match of the season, knowing victory against our undefeated opponents (Congratulation to Moorlands for winning the league) would give us the points needed to secure the league runners up spot.  With the lads fired up from the start, we started with Jamie in goal, a back 3 of Tom, Sam and Kenzie, in midfield we had Adam, Josh, Ben, Luke and Nathan, with Alex and David in attack.  Lewis and Ryan started on the, with Lewis introduced mid way through the first half and Ryan at half-time.

We took control of the game early with the midfield bossing the game and deservedly took the lead when Alex broke free to slot home. Alex then added another 2 before half time, to make the score line 3-0, when it could easily have been 6.  We remained on top in the 2nd half, although Moorlands pulled a goal back with 15 minutes remaining. They then added another from a corner with the final kick off the game, to make the result 3-2.

The team were elated at the final whistle to get the points needed and although should have won by a more comfortable shoreline we cannot take anything away from a fantastic performance.  Alex's hat trick was a reward for his trickery, David and Lewis both gave great support, Nathan and Lewis both ran the full backs ragged all game, especially Adam who never stopped running at the opposition. Luke and Josh were both strong in the middle in winning the challenges and Ben gave the defence vital protection with his well timed tackles. At the back, Tom, Kenzie and Ryan, attacked every ball and Sam was flawless. In goal, Jamie was his usual calming influence with a confident and vocal display.  No man of the match award today, as this was given to the whole team.

A big thanks to Mark for running the line, the parental support, which again was superb today and not forgetting our manager Ian, who often has the difficult job of deciding which players to leave out of the starting 11 and which players to take off.  Finally, thanks to all the players for their efforts thought the season, which resulted in the success they deserved.
