Report

For our final match of the season, we had the short trip to face local rivals Wyberton.  With Blake unavailable, we started with Brandon in attack, a midfield trio of William, Josh E and Levi, Emma and George in defence and Jack in goal. Josh B and Kian strayed as my super subs and both played a key part in the game as we rotated the squad.

As in our previous match we started the stronger of the 2 teams and dominated the early possession, however despite the efforts of Brandon, Josh B, Josh E and William we couldn't  find the goal we needed and then Levi hit a superb shot from distance, which was well saved by the Wyberton keeper. At the other end the team were defending well, with Kian, Emma and George tackling well and Jack providing a safe pair of hands in goal, however Wyberton opened the scoring with a deflected shot, making the score 1-0 at half time.

Literally only a few seconds into the 2nd half, Wyberton doubled their lead, when straight from the kick off, they scored with a well hit shot from distance. The opposition, then took control of the game and despite some hard work and good tackling from Emma, George, Levi and Kian, and excellent work from Jack in goal, they added 3 further goals.  In the latter stages of the game, the team pushed forward, with Josh B, Josh E, William and Brandon close to getting a goal however were denied by some last ditch Wyberton defending.

Overall I cannot fault the work rate and we were beaten by the better side. Our team has improved well adjusting to 'competitive'' football and I am confident will continue to make great strides next season. Star player today was Levi, who never stopped running, offered a great defensive barrier and helped to push the team forward. Thanks to the support, not just for today, but the whole season, it is very much appreciated.
