WOW!!!!! Boys what an incredible game of youth football with the 2 top teams in the league pitting their wits against each other in the cup and there was nothing to choose between us until a dramatic penalty shootout, you are both a credit to the midlincs league.

The 1^st half started at an very fast pace with both teams not giving the other an inch with a few slight chances from both teams then it exploded into life when Luke closed down their defender who passed it back to their keeper who panicked and he passed to luke and he calmly slotted the ball passed their keeper 1-0, it was end to end and they made it 1-1 with a breakaway goal, it was soon 2-1 to us when Sam got a pass off Lucas and smashed the ball into the roof of the net but back came the home team to make it 2-2 when a ball we should of dealt with found their forward who tapped it into an empty net, both teams had chances but just before the break Sam got a pass on the halfway line and with his quick feet skipped past both the home teams defenders and raced through and calmly slotted the ball past the oncoming keeper H.T 3-2.

The 2^nd half was just as fast passed when both teams saw chances go begging, midway through the half it was 3-3 from a cross come shot floated in the back post as it drew near the end we had chances to win it but time ran out and it was into extra time something that was new to us.

The first 5 minutes of extra time was a very cagey affair with no team wanting to give anything away but the home team took the lead for the 1^st time in the game with a big up and under the ball fell to their forward to head them in front 4-3.

The 2^nd half was mostly one way traffic with our attacking flair pinning the home team back but poor finishing and being unlucky it looked like it was going to be another nearly cup game but we have a special never say die attitude now and with seconds remaining Kez powered in a throw-in and Lucas got his head on it and guided the ball into the roof of the net all the players and parents erupted into cheers it was nothing that we didn’t deserve on the state of play AET 4-4.

We started the dreaded penalties with Brooke saving 2 of theirs it was down to Lucas to put us through to the semis and he calmly smashed the ball into the roof of the net to see progress so well done Brooke, Dan, Tom, Waddo, Lucas, Tyler, Luke, Kez and Sam we couldn’t be any more proud of you all.
